Die wichtigsten Orte in Halton sind Runcorn und Widnes, die durch den Fluss Mersey getrennt, aber durch eine Br\u00fccke miteinander verbunden sind. Der Name stammt von dem im Gebiet des Borough (Kreis) liegenden Ort Halton. Das Borough of Halton hat eine Fl\u00e4che von 68 km\u00b2 und ca. 126.000 Einwohner. Gepr\u00e4gt wird es durch Chemieindustrie, aber auch zunehmend durch die Dienstleistungs- und Freizeitbranche.<\/p>
